1. Who is the Projects module for?
The module supports both project types:
- Internal projects — system improvements, marketing, R&D, infrastructure upgrades…
- Customer projects — solution delivery for external customers.
Each project has its own lifecycle, project manager, and progress journal.
2. Create a new project
- Open the Projects module → Create.
- Use a clear project name, avoiding generic labels like "Project A".
- Pick the company (multi-company) — make sure data is partitioned by the right legal entity.
- Set the planned start date and end date.
- Configure access: followers only, or open to portal collaborators.
- Add appropriate tags (Dev, BA, Marketing…).
3. Four lifecycle stages
| Stage | Meaning |
|---|---|
| To Do | Project created, not yet started or in preparation. |
| In Progress | Project actively under delivery. |
| Done | Project completed, folded away. |
| Cancelled | Project cancelled, folded away. |
Note: the last two stages are folded — hidden from the default Kanban view to keep things tidy, but still queryable for reporting.
4. When to move stages
- Move to In Progress: a project manager (PM) has been assigned and the first root task has been created.
- Move to Done: every task is closed and the final status update has been published.
- Move to Cancelled: the decision to stop has been made — pair this with a final update explaining why.
5. Connections to other modules
- Detailed work items live in the Tasks (To-do) module.
- Sales opportunities marked Won in the Sales module are typically converted into projects here.
